European Health Insurance Card
Good news. Cyprus is a member of the EU, so as a British National or any other EU state member you are entitled to FREE emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Cypriot nationals. To qualify for this you need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which you must obtain before you travel. Please be advised that the EHIC is not a substitute for travel insurance. The card helps you get the help you need, but be aware that public hospitals in Cyprus may not be up to the standard you are used to.
The quickest and easiest way is to apply for an EHIC is online. To apply online visit, http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcareabroad/EHIC/Pages/Applyingandrenewing.aspx
